The purpose of this research guide is to assist students in identifying and evaluating sources that are often used for college assignments. Navigate through the guide by using the blue tabs at the top. In general, it is organized by type of information source:

  • Types of Sources tab = Academic/Scholarly/Peer-Reviewed Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Primary & Secondary sources
  • The SIFT Method tab = websites and online information
  • Fake News tab = links you out to our in-depth Disinformation: Fake News, Propaganda, & More guide
  • Audio/Visual Media tab = images, sounds, film, art, etc.
  • Information Timeline tab = the role of time (when was the information posted/published?) in identifying/evaluating sources
  • Game: Fakeout! tab = put all of your newly acquired evaluation skills to the test in an interactive, online game
