The UMW Libraries Catalog will help you to locate books about education and about children's literature. It will also help you find classic and award-winning books for children. Use the "Location" option in a catalog search (located in the left-hand column) to narrow to our Juvenile / Young Adult collection.
To browse UMW's libraries' shelves for children's fiction, visit the Juvenile / Young Adult collection on the first floor of Simpson Library, behind the main stairs. Most children's literature falls between call numbers PZ 5 and PZ 90.
To find books about children's literature, search for any of the following terms in the Library Catalog as a Subject:
To find children's books by a specific author, perform a Browse Search in the library's catalog using the author's name in this format: last name, comma, first name. (Unless the author has a very common name, you can also search by last name only, then scan the list for your chosen author.)
"Subject" will be automatically selected in the drop-down menu. Before you search, change this to "Author."
Use the same type of search to locate books illustrated by a particular artist:
To find books about a particular author or about an author's work, use the same format to enter the author's name in a basic search, but change "Author" back to "Subject" in the drop-down menu.
If you find an item that belongs to another library system, you may request it through Interlibrary loan (ILL).
To place an interlibrary loan request, you will need to create a free UMW Libraries ILL Account.
