Borrowing

Availability
The HCC Information Desk has two GoPro video cameras. Use of the GoPro is on a first come/first borrow basis. Current availability information can be found on the UMW Libraries site.

Who May Borrow
Only currently enrolled students and actively employed faculty and staff of the University of Mary Washington may borrow a GoPro.

Loan Period
GoPros may be borrowed for a period of 3 days.

Late Charges

Late fees are $5.00 per day. Charges continue to accrue when the HCC is closed.

What You Borrow
The GoPro Video Camera is loaned with:

  1. GoPro 
  2. Rechargeable battery
  3. USB interface/charge cable
  4. SDHC MicroSD Class 10 32GB Memory Card
  5.  GoPro tripod mount
  6. GoPro handler
  7. Waterproof housing
  8. Carrying case

You are expected to return the eight (8) items identified when you return the GoPro at the end of your loan period. You will be billed replacement costs for lost or damaged components. 

Replacement Costs for Lost or Damaged GoPro
Anyone borrowing a GoPro is required to sign a form indicating that they "understand that there are certain responsibilities associated with the usage of this equipment and agree to the following terms and conditions":

  • borrower understands that all electronic equipment and/or accessories are the property of the University of Mary Washington.
  • borrower will return all equipment to the University of Mary Washington in the same condition in which it was provided to me.
  • borrower will return all equipment on specified due date/time.
  • borrower understands that failure to return equipment will result in an overdue fine.
  • borrower is responsible for the replacement cost for equipment that is lost, stolen or damaged.  Damages include but are not limited to accidents, neglect, or misuse.

Steadicam Smoothee

Borrowing

Availability
The HCC Information Desk has three Steadicam Smoothees. Use of the Steadicam is on a first come/first borrow basis. Current availability information can be found on the UMW Libraries site.

Who May Borrow
Only currently enrolled students and actively employed faculty and staff of the University of Mary Washington may borrow the Steadicams.

Loan Period
Steadicams may be borrowed for a period of 3 days.

Late Charges

Late fees are $5.00 per day. Charges continue to accrue when the HCC is closed.

What You Borrow
The Steadicam Smoothee is loaned with:

  1. Steadicam
  2. iPhone 5 mount
  3. GoPro Hero mount
  4. Carrying bag

You are expected to return the four (4) items identified when you return the steadicam at the end of your loan period. You will be billed replacement costs for lost or damaged components.

Vixia HD Camcorder

Who May Borrow
Only currently enrolled students and actively employed faculty and staff of the University of Mary Washington may borrow a camcorder.

Camcorders may be borrowed for a period of 3 days.

The Vixia HD Camcorder is loaned with:

  1. Camcorder
  2. Battery pack
  3. Compact power adaptor/battery charger
  4. USB interface cable

  6. User manual
  7. Pearson 1030 case

You are expected to return the seven (7) items identified when you return the camcorder at the end of your loan period. You will be billed replacement costs for lost or damaged components.

Who May Borrow
Only currently enrolled students and actively employed faculty and staff of the University of Mary Washington may borrow a Flip video camera

Flip video cameras may be borrowed for a period of 3 days.

  2. Two AA batteries
  3. AV video cable
  4. Users' manual        
  5. Soft case
  6. Carrying case

You are expected to return the six (6) items identified when you return the Flip video camera at the end of your loan period. You will be billed replacement costs for lost or damaged components.

Intercampus Use

Because of potential loss or damage to technology items, nothing will be shipped via intercampus mail.  Further information is available about technology at Simpson Library or the Stafford Library.
